Leadership Statement

Elderholme Nursing Home is a registered Charity operating as an integral part of Merseyside health and social care system and recognises and aligns with the NHS Net Zero goals which are set to achieve Net Zero for Scope 1 & 2 direct emissions from usage of gas, electricity, and transport by 2040, also, reaching Net Zero for Scope 3 indirect emissions which are from employee commuting, business travel, waste, water, etc by 2045.

The Board of Trustees is committed to minimising the organisation’s impact on the environment through the business operations. The commitment involves continuously enhancing the environmental performance by embracing sustainable development principles and rigorously complying with environmental laws.

It is Elderholme Nursing Home policy to comply fully with legal standards, by integrating environmental protection into the management systems and decision-making processes, prevent pollution to protect local ecosystems, using sustainable resources and maximising the efficiency of resource use throughout the operations, reducing waste and recycling also striving for continuous improvement.

The Leadership is regularly assessing and looking for ways to improve the organisation’s environmental performance through clear, measurable targets and objectives, also encouraging, educating and training staff to enhance their understanding of environmental issues. The Management is working closely with the suppliers and business partners to encourage mutual adherence to environmentally friendly practices and to influence broader, positive environmental impacts as well as engage with the surrounding community.

This overall commitment also aligns with and supports achieving the CQC expectations under environmental sustainability Quality Statement 34 under the domain of “Well-led”.
